revo SS (greys kit, whats in it?)
revo SS (greys kit, whats in it?)
Well, as I found out from extensive searching, Grey is no longer selling his short shifter upgrade kit because it was not profitable enough. I was wondering if anyone knew exactly was in the kit.
I figure if someone knows what it was i could just go out and buy the parts myself.
Thanks

Re: revo SS (greys kit, whats in it?)
greys kit is not the aluminum bushings. Greys kit eliminates most of the side-2-side play in the shifter.
"Its two rubber back washers, some mini hinge pins (replaces the cotter pins) and two clips to reduce the gap in between the assembly and the cable"
however, that doesnt answer my question because i don't know any measurements or anything.

oh yea, my bad. i have the damn kit, and i forgot. i definitely can't help on the measurements off hand, but maybe i can pop off my console in a couple days if no one else gives you answer.
Re: revo SS (greys kit, whats in it?)
i messaged grey with the forum email function. now response as of yet. I asked him if he's willing to sell another or if he could tell me what to get.
However, if no one responds with an answer, could you possibly take measurments with photos too thanks

"You need 5/16" rubber bonded washers (rubber on one side and galvanized steel on the other). You need only two of those. You can find them at a place like Lowe's or Home Depot for $1. Then you need grease. I use a high temp petroleum-based grease. Any kind of grease will do. I found it at a local store of mine for like $3. Then you need stainless steel cotter pins. Get them from McMaster.com for around $5 shipped. The part number you need is: 92375A100 You get 25 of them. I guess after buying all of this stuff you could start selling your own little kits. You also need to sand down both sides of the rubber bonded washers to have them fit. I used 220 grit sand paper for this."
BTW: I purchased my cotter pins from the site. 25 of them is the minimum. I will sell the cotterpins to whoever wants some. I assume i can ship them for standard postage. I will figure out how much it cost to ship them and see how much i will charge. Probably 1$-2 depending on how much shipping will be.
I'll post once irecieve them. figure i will go to home depot and get the rubber bonded washes tomorrow.
tada.

Re: revo SS (greys kit, whats in it?)
for whoever/if anyone is interested:
well, i ordered the cotter pins, 25 of them. Went to home depot and lowes today. lowes didnt carry the right size of rubber/galvanized steel washers. So i had to go to home depot. they carry them in a 4-pack for like 67cents. Also picked up some grease at lowes, that cost about 2 dollars even. Seeing as i have 2 extra washers and 23 extra cotter pins coming. If anyone is interested in them pm me. They are the exact cotter pins that grey used to sell.
let me know.

Re: revo SS (greys kit, whats in it?)
My cotter pins will arrive today around 3pm, just got a wait on the revo short shifter now. Truehonda.com did not give me tracking information, they are based in IL so I assume(hopefully assuming correctly) it should arrive tomorrow or possibly today.
i'll keep posted, I've been trying to decide on what ship **** to get. I really like the RSX gunmetal one, the oem one with the black numbers. any ideas?

Re: revo SS (greys kit, whats in it?)
Well i got all my parts and put my revo ss in. Feels great. I will sell off the remaining cotter pins if anyone is interested. They will be sold first come first serve. Just email me or pm message and i will message you my paypal for payment. not sure what i will charge, probably 2-3$ for the 2 required pins. You can pick up the rubber bonded washers you need for about 75 cents, and im sure you already have grease laying around in the garage, if not that is cheap.

Re: revo SS (greys kit, whats in it?)
im interested in this "upgrade kit" explain a little about the cotton pins, i just orderred my revo short shifter and its coming, and i have a skunk 2 shift ****, i wanted to do it right from the start, cuz i've heard the cables come lose and people hear clinging noises ??? explain how this helps ? don't i have to buy "bushings too" im verrrry interested
Re: revo SS (greys kit, whats in it?)
the clinging noise comes when shifting into second or fourth from the primary shifter cable. the clip does sit firmly on the revos shifter base i simply wedged some rubber inbetween the clip and the shifter base and put tape over it lol and havent heard clinging since. other than that the side to side play is a killer. you can reduce it though... i have to find the link to the instructions
