shift **** question

I've read how to swap the shift **** on my 5spd, but what I want to know is how does it look? In particular I'm wondering about the silver trim piece btwn the **** and boot. Does it still go up against the **** or does it just sit there like it's broken or what? I'd like to see some pics if anyone has some with different *****. Also what companies besides Momo make leather shift *****?

I have an OBX Type R shift **** (matches the color of my car, Eternal Blue Pearl). The boot won't stay on the nut by itself... I had to use electrical tape to keep it up, or I hear you can just get the JDM Type R boot and voila. There are many numerous ways to keep the boot on. I would take a picture, but you'd have to wait until tomorrow when I have enough light.

No, the boot does not clip back on like the stock shift **** allowed it to do so.
You can either tape it from the inside, or outside if you don't care how it looks; or you can let it sit there and risk letting dust particles go down to the shift.

If you're going to buy an aftermarket shift **** and you want that silver trim piece to fit up against your shift **** then I would buy a washer whose outside diameter is a little more than the inside diameter of that trim piece. It also has to have an inside diameter that's slightly lessthan the diameter of the shifter. Then just put it on and it'll allow the trim piece to stay close the the shift **** by friction. You could technically also use a glue gun as a temporary solution. If you ever wanted to take it apart then you'de mess up your work, but you could always re-glue it. Also, the aluminum RSX shift **** comes with a new trim ring that you install and everything fits perfectly.

The base RSX shift **** works perfectly too. Check it out...
