Question 01 auto tranny to 04+ tranny

hey i plan on chaging my auto trans to the newer one since mine is starting to crap out... question is that will the 04 ex auto tranny fit on my 01 i know that the only diff is the sytle on the car but motor/tranny wise is all the same so everything will fit right?? thanx in advance

im pretty sure it will, While your wapping it out, you MIGHT AS WELL swap to a manual. I would.

but doing so wouldnt i have to change the ecu, add in the clucth cable/pedal, gauge, ...and what ever other things i forgot to put in.

It's probably worth it to at least get an estimate. Then see if the difference is worth it to you.

mine cracked on me when I had my boost on my car, and i'm getting my M T this week for 500buckets shipped, it only had 4k miles on it

There may be a few minor design changes between the years but nothing that should prevent you from swapping. I went from 01 to 02 and I noticed a slight change in design of the speed sensor. Other then that it was all the same. Make sure you buy all new seals and replace them when you get your new tranny.

As for swapping to manual....that would be a bad idea IMHO. It would be very difficult, costly, time consuming and you will decrease the value of your car. But if your up for the challenge, and don't care too much about a slight decrease in your car's value, then go for it. Just make sure you take pics if you decide to do that!

yeh i dount that i have time to do a MT but ill prolly be just do the newer tranny and of course ill get new seals ill let you guys know when its all going down

I am getting my tranny rite now. My tranny want out so I brought a 2004 tranny for 500.The 04 will fit. My car is a 01 too. And I got a 04 tranny.

do you guys know how long and how tough on changing the drive shaft seal? i'm getting my tranny soon and I don't know if the seals are in good condition or I'll just change it anyway...
