Interior Painting
Interior Painting
I'm seriously thinking about painting some of my interior red. I want to paint the big dash piece that goes around the guages and around the driver side air vent and it extends around the trim piece in the middle(cd player piece) and I don't know how to remove that big ole sucker...anyone know how without breakin anything???
yeah its pretty easy... check out the DIY on painting that specific trim piece its pretty good

edit: wait... you're talking about the whole thing that goes from driver to passenger side?

(and oh yeah dude that is a fresh body kit on that red civic...wut kind and any other pics?)

Be sure to take the time to do it right. Don't get too excited about the end product and end up rushing. You'll end up having to repaint like I did. It's a real PITA to do every couple of months. It looks kind of fake too, I don't think I'll do it again on my next Civic.

I painted mine. I first sanded, then 2 coats primer, 4 coats paint, 2 coats satin finish. On all the pieces befor I put the last coat of color paint I took sand paper and rubbed it against itself so it would leave little pieces of sand on the finish. After all the coats it came out really nice and has a nice texture
Yeah I think I'm gonna buy some filler primer and put a good coat of it so it will get all those vinyl wrinkles out...then put coats of paint on there...and then clear cote...what is satin finish?

Satin finish is a clear coat that makes it look slightly shiny and slightly dull. It is inbetween gloss and flat. I think it looks really good with our dash seeing how it is that soft flat looking stuff.

I did mine exactly like you want. Red vents, red gauge cluster, and dash where the CD player is was black for a long time. I also couldn't figure out how to pop it out. But with the help of a friend (a girl) she got it for me. I used Plastikote Red Caliper Paint, b/c its really high temp anyway. Prime or no prime, it'll work. Sanding is not required.
I want to paint my dash...not the trim piece where the cd player is...but like the piece that extends all the way across...and my doors too...and if i don't sand it will still be wrinkly lookin
i have tan interior, which is only interior sold on 03 coupe ex blue pearl... and canada has the "si" or for US ex, and it only comes with black... anyway, i hate my tan, and i want black. Anyone know how much it might cost to do this, or is anyone willing to trade interiors with me? hahaha! i just want all black like the black civics do.
