Rep Power: 0 New here....serious concern about the tires on my '06
I bought an 06 earlier this year and have really liked it.
I just about wrecked it a month ago on my way into work. It was raining pretty hard and I was going about 65 mph on the highway. The car began to hydroplane and I quickly let off of the gas and avoided any problems. I figured this was due to the Heavy rains.
I was driving home on the PA Turnpike last Sunday and it was sprinkling. I was doing 65-70 and the car began to do the same thing. The road had no standing water or anything like that.
Has anyone else experienced this?

well either time when it started hydroplaning.. was it early on in the rain? since that's when all the soaked up oil in the roads gets brought to the surface.. just a thought.. also, check tire pressure, tire condition and be sure you rotate every 6k miles

We all know most OEM tires suck, same went for my 05 impreza that had bridgestones on them.
OEM tires for the most part are decent for the first 1/4 of their life. As they wear, they get dangerous.
tirerack.com pretty much confirms this on most OEM tires I do research on for friends, when they are ready to replace and don't believe me when I tell them, get better tires (most times at a less expensive cost).
Tire pressures are critical though for any tire and so is alignment.
On my 06 LX with the goodyears, I have driven through some unreal rain at about 80 with no problems. Rain so hard, wipers on hard just barely worked, on the other hand, I have vast experience driving in very poor conditions.
