when ordering side specific parts. is the driver side considered the right or left?

in the automotive repair world they refer to left and right as u sit in the driverseat whatever side thats on. if it's a LHD car then the drivers door is the left door. RHD the left door is the passenger. so if your "under the hood" facing the firewall whats on your right side is technley the left side of the car.

at least thats how i learned it. i dont know how joe backyard mecanic does things
