Took my 2012 LX to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. Was told i needed a transmission flush. I was told they put in ATF Synthetic trans fluid , but in the O.M. it says specified fluid type is ATF DW-1 Is the formerly mentioned fluid acceptable or do i run the risk of damages if i dont put ATF DW1 in?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Quick question
It's funny. Places like that can't afford to use the right fluid, and people like me can't afford to use the wrong fluid.
You already know it's not the fluid that Honda specifies.
Is it absolutely compatible? Nobody knows for sure.
Do you notice anything unusual with the trans now?
If there's any question, it's probably best and safest to flush out the wrong and install the correct Honda fluid ASAP.
Can you DIY this? Buy a case of Honda DW1 fluid and go to work

Re: Quick question
You need to either return to the lubeshop and find out what they used, or replace the fluid with dw-1.
atf fully synthetic is just the job code, not the brand used.
for example in most cars at my shop we use Total G3. Total is the brand G3 is the product; which has a data sheet stating which oem fluids are covered.
I've been at my shop for 7 years and there has never been an issue with G3.
....
that being said we do use oem dw-1 for auto hondas, and not G3, as G3 only covers dw-1 outside of warranty.
