I was replacing my tail lights this weekend and noticed that the steel bar under the bumper was bent in. I was rear ended years ago (about 3) and had it fixed at a body shop, they replaced the bumper. My question is this, should they have fixed/replaced the steel bar too? its an obvious dent. It doesn't affect anything but I feel like if I get rear ended hard enough it could cause damage to the trunk. Last time I was rear ended and the person behind me was only going about 30 mph and it's pretty bent in. I'm pretty new to actually working on my car, so I don't know this info yet. Thanks!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Repair question
That's called a bumper beam, and yes you should probably replace it.
Simple bolt on as long as the holes on the body haven't been moved by the last impact.
Part #14
I looked up for a '07, 4 door car.

Ok awesome. I'm going to see if the original repair shop will look at my old receipt and fix it for me since they should have the first time.
Thanks!
Thanks!
