Rep Power: 0 can someone help with understand freon can psi reading
my side windows keep fogging up and i purchased freon from napa.
when i attach the hose to the low side and with ac on, the psi goes to around 15-20psi. when compressor cycles and is off, it goes to 50 psi. outside temperature is around 50F. the ac is now blowing cold air, but it seems to be intermittent.
this is the video

car is 2004 civic with 197,000 miles. do i need to add freons?
thanks

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

If the windows are fogging, you need to make sure to have it set on FRESH air. Never use recirculate when it is cold outside.
You probably didn't have any issues with the AC in the first place.
If you have it blowing cold air out of the vents, leave it alone.
50*F ambient is far too cool to even evaluate AC performance.
You can't tell much of anything without high pressure readings anyway.
Far too easy to overcharge the AC, a 1/2 pound overcharge can make it quit and even cause damage.
And clean the windows.

Adding to what he said, using the can you cant really tell whats going on.
You need a set of manifold gauges..with high and low side pressures..
