Transmission Maintenance

I just bought a 1996 Civic DX and can't find the dipstick to check the transmission fluid. Are there any links or advice to find this?

Re: Transmission Maintenance

Might be a sealed unit if you cant find it. Crack open the fill bolt and take a peek if you are that curious. I'd just go ahead and have a couple of quarts ready for a drain and fill

Re: Transmission Maintenance

Well if it's an automatic 4-speed, look for the dipstick with the yellow handle, on the passenger side of the engine bay, towards the back..

Re: Transmission Maintenance

If its auto do what the guy above me said.

If its manual it has no dipstick and needs to be checked with the car jacked up and level (4 sides) plug is on side of transmission. if you pull it out put your finger in the hole and see if its full. Should even run out a little once you remove the fill cap. Its the one closer to the top.
