Rep Power: 0 Timing Belt Replacement - Mileage or Time?
I have a 2004 Civic with around 37k miles on it. Was in for my regular maintenance at the dealer and they wanted to change the timing belt. They recommend changing it every 6 years or 60k miles.
What do you guys recommend going by, the time or mileage? I wouldn't want to change an expensive belt if there was nothing wrong with it just because I hit the 6 year mark.

welcome to the forum
Inspect the condition of the belt. If it looks fairly 'new-ish' still, then I'd not worry about it. If it's showing its age, then depending on the extent of the condition, I'd consider changing it out.
Your mileage may vary, but if that were my car, and there was nothing visibly wrong with the belt, I'd leave it alone.

I got mine replaced @ 110k and it still looked new not even any cracks. If u only have 37k i wouldnt even worry about it, your belt will still last a long long time. You know how dealers are...they just want to make some extra bucks......

Yeah, around the 110k mark or 8 years is when you should be replacing. Or if conditions are especially rough, i.e., extreme weather or driving roughly.
