1996 Honda Civic 4 cyl Automatic

i have a 1996 honda civic and all of a sudden the check engine light came on and the car started hesitating and when the car tries to change gears the light flashes until the car finally changes gears. then it stays on constant. three of the spark plug wires pop out when the car is running. please help.

switch out plugs and wires, maybe even distributor cap and rotor while your at it, its all real easy stuff, that should fix all the problems. if the new wires still pop out of where theyre supposed to go, then theres a more serious problem but give it a shot maybe? i mean the plugs popping out is definately probable cause for the hesitation and stuff, id say go for it. perhaps not the plugs, cap, and rotor, but idk when the last time any of it was replaced, but definately the wires

no the engine was not hot.

maybe you just need new plug wires? get the ngk blue wires they are very firm and will never pop off.
