I knew this from undergraduate senior final mechanical engineering project. Their project was to make a pump that mix 93 and 87 octane gasoline for gas station to make 89 octane. This makes sense, cause gas station can cut the cost by only having 2 tanks instead of 3 tanks. They had research from several gas station, but I don't know if this is true for all gas station. So there is no 89 gas.
The point is from 87 to 93, it's a 6 point differences, and usually the price of 89 is right in the middle between the two. So if we think about it, we should get 90 octane for the price, not 89. Just to let you guys know...
