Rep Power: 246 only thing that i would have to say is that the sanding part. man that was a bitch especially the part where there were rivots around one part of the chrome piece. you may want to mention the part of masking off the reflector part of the turn signal cause some areas is illegal to black those out i believe. other than that most of it was pretty detailed. also add wat kind of silicone to use. cause i was having some trouble making decisions wat to use but decided to use the high grade black silicone from my local advance auto.

Rep Power: 0 just to check.. are most people putting down the krylon fusion/primer, then going over with the high-temp paints, or are some people just doing without the fusion/primer? And I see people using Ace high-temp, dupli color, and engine/caliper paint.. any other suggestions? And what are your preferences, gloss or flat?

I wish I wouldn't have but I already sanded it so...yeah.
Also, careful to pull the cover off parrallel to the rest of the light, I broke a tab because I was wedging them apart.
But, Viper, DIY was excellent aside from that!
I did mine in flat black to go with all the other flat blackness of my car!

Pics suck cuz they were with my fone but...
When I get e-bay fogs one of these days, I'll black them out but the factory fogs don't come apart...i tried and busted the lense in half...also, centers of the rims will be flat black soon.....

Heck yeah! Gotta give a shout out to Viper for this great DIY! At first I didn't want to black them out because I was afraid I would mess up, but if you can change the oil and oil filter on your civic, you're overqualified to do this. I followed this DIY to the t except for the sanding part. It took about 4-5 coats on each piece, but the results are well worth it. Reasealing them was easy to me, the longest time being spent on taping them up! Enjoy!

anyone willing to add some advice on how to mask off parts of the chrome that I dont want painted? ie. sidemarkers and turn signals look...how fragile is the chrome? is it easily damaged by painters tape or fingerprints?

The orange reflector piece simply pops out, and the chrome parts you don't want painted, just tape over it with painters tape. The chrome isn't fragile and painter's tape will not lift the chrome off if that's what you're worried about. If your fingers are all dirty and sweaty, you can leave fingerprints on the chrome, but it's easily fixed by cleaning the chrome before resealing the headlights back together. This should have been the first mod I did when I got my civic. It's simple, cheap, and looks a hell of a lot better than stock.

Did mines over the weekend. Skunk2civic04 pics really help thanks. Vipers pixs no longer is up. I went different route and painted mines dupli-color gunmetal. Thought black was just too dark for the SSMs. Didnt sand down or none. Just used the dupli-color adhesion spray. Took about 7hrs for me. Most of the time is due to waiting for the paint to dry.
