Just wanted to know what you guys were using.Turbo is on the way, when I install it I'll be switching to Mobil1, but wasn't sure if I should stick to same weight(5w) or switch to 15.Just wanted to know the best and what you guys are using/recommend.Thanks.

i would say staywith the same wieht and change your oil every 3,000 miles if you don't do it all ready.

i change it every 3, though i've heard with FI, you may want to do it every 2...but if you're using a synthetic, they don't break down as easily anyway. thanks for your input, leaning toward staying 5w-30

Viscosity (a fluid's resistance to flow) is rated at 0° F (represented by the number preceding the "W" [for Winter]) and at 212° F (represented by the second number in the viscosity designation). So 10W-30 oil has less viscosity when cold and hot than does 20W-50. Motor oil thins as it heats and thickens as it cools. So, with the right additives to help it resist thinning too much, an oil can be rated for one viscosity when cold, another when hot. The more resistant it is to thinning, the higher the second number (10W-40 versus 10W-30, for example) and that's good. I woudl say using a 10W-30 would be your best bet. Also according to the site, we should stay away from full synthetic, a synthetic blent isn't too bad but I still recommend an SL blend 10W-30.

u use the stock stuff, and change it every 3000 miles. It still comes out pretty clean.

So I know the recommended oil to use for a 2003 EX civic is 5w 20... but I purchased the wrong grade and got 15w 40... and I was told that it wasn't too horrible for the car, but just be sure to not do it again and to change it in 3,000 miles. But I was wondering if it was retarded to put it in anyway. Just wanna hear some feedback. PS sorry for reviving this dead thread.

ur motor is REALLY gonna hate u if u put that in....so i suggest returning it...and getting the right stuff...


my car is reaching 100k so i switched from 5w20 to 5w30...and also switched to valvoline max life....good stuff
