2000 LX - Exhaust Manifold replacement without the cat

2000 Honda Civic LX has a crack in the manifold near the upper 02 sensor. I'm over 150K so no dice on the consent decree settlement thing. My question is, can I just replace the manifold without replacing the cat? Most searches for the manifold have the mani/cat combo or a performance header/mani. Is the manifold detachable from the cat. Finally, anyone got an opinion on welding the crack. A guy at Autozone told me about a muffler shop down the street that'd do it for $25. Thanks in advance!

Yeah you can replace the manifold and leave the exhaust

Don't weld it because if it doesn't hold you do more damage than good

How so? Damage to the manifold? If that's the case, the manifold is already cracked and if it doesn't hold, then I end up replacing it anyway. I just figure it's worth it to try the cheap fix first. If that doesn't work, then I go all in for a new mani.

Re: 2000 LX - Exhaust Manifold replacement without the cat

The manifold and cat are sold as one piece...the only way to replace the manifold alone, is to convert the exhaust to the EX exhaust and get an EX cat, so the cost is just the same, if not more...your best bet is to have the crack welded by a skilled welder, and save up enough to have the whole thing swapped.
