ok, threw cel codes:

p1298: high output on ELD

p0138: bank 1 sensor 2 high voltage(o2 sensor)

1. anyone have a part number for the ELD? honda is having a hard time finding a part number on this

2. anyone know if its the o2 sensor or the ELD?

car is a 2001 civic 4d lx

You need to replace your ELD....I had the same code after turbo install oddly enough. Honda use to make you buy the entire fuse box....now you can just replace the ELD unit...here's part #

DTC P1298 Is Stored in the ECM/PCM
(Supersedes 05-006, dated February 25, 2005, to change the CR-V model-year range)

SYMPTOM
DTC P1298 (electrical load detector (ELD) circuit high
voltage) is stored in the ECM/PCM.

PROBABLE CAUSE
The electronic load detector (ELD) has a faulty solder
joint.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the ELD.
NOTE: Previously, if an ELD required replacement, you
had to replace the under-hood fuse/relay box. To
reduce repair costs, replacement ELDs are now
available.

PARTS INFORMATION
Electronic Load Detector:
P/N 38255-S5A-003, H/C 7987571

You may have the high voltage for the 02 because of the ELD....I would replace ELD, reset ecm, & test drive....see what happens. Unless you have access to a scan tool with real time info to look at 02 sensor values.....

This thread is about a year old, but I have the same problem. Mine is a 2002 Civic Si. Is it the same part number? I also was advised that it was molded into the fuse box and the whole thing would need replacement. Can I dissassemble the fuse box- remove all the fuses/relays and connectors- and inspect the ELD? I can solder. What does it look like? Is it located between the alternator and the fuse box? Fuse box and battery? How common is this failure? I had 2-3 things go bad on mine all of a sudden at 90k miles. Did the faulty ELD distribute bad voltage and harm my sensors?

I've got the same error code on my car (Honda CR-V 2002 Mod. AUT)

My problem is that the car starts but stops after three / four seconds.
MIL light is on.

When my mechanic is using the Scan Tool, he gets the code "P1298 unknown code"

My mechanic could not find the error code (NOT a Honda mechanic). He believes it is Crankshaft sensor. And that's a $900 job :-(

But after googling the code. I ended up in this Forum Thread ;-)
If I replace the ELD (P / N 38255-S5A-003) electronic load detector.).

(Does CR-V and Civic have the same error codes?)

Will the car work normally then? Or do I have other problems.

PS.. I'm from Norway ;-)
