engine block heaters???

Does any use an engine block heater on their Civics?

Are they worth it?

Are there any cordless block heaters? (for those of us without long extension cords)

I wanted to get one but the car seems to start ok in the cold for me, I think its a bit of work to put it in. I looked at the install docs in the downloads section and am not sure how easy it would be or not.

Supposedly the engine block heater is easy to use. I found a link to a site where I can buy the heater (see URL below). My car starts up just fine in the winter time but it takes a while for it to heat up. The heat won't come on until the coolant temp is up. The engine block heater looks like a good way to get the temp up quick. What does everyone think?

My civic came with one as standard equipement from the dealer. You plug it in....and when you come out in the morning, your car is still semi-warm.

The only time that you really need to use it is when temps get severely below 0, and you don't have a garage. It keeps the engine semi-warm. It prevents the block from cracking during the warmup period during extremely cold temperatures.
