Question gear ratios

02 Civic DX LX USDM Hydro 3.462 1.870 1.241 0.970 0.711 3.231 4.111
02 Civic HX USDM Hydro 3.461 1.750 1.166 0.857 0.710 3.230 3.842
02 Civic EX USDM Hydro 3.143 1.870 1.241 0.970 0.757 3.231 4.412

are these correct? if so is it possible to take say the first gear out of an ex and put it into the HX tranny? or buy the HX gears and put them in my EX tranny?

Re: gear ratios

i believe you have too many number up there... you should have gears 1,2,3,4,5 then the final... and you have 7 numbers for each car....

Re: gear ratios

thanx i'm looking, if you can't tell to get the best gears out of all the trannys.
First 3.143 EX
Second 1.750 HX
Third 1.096 HX
Fourth 0.857 HX
Fifth 0.757 EX
Reverse 3.231 ALL
Final Drive Axle Ratio 4.412 EX

i think that might help everyone get the most out of this motor (1.7). this is the closest i could find to the EX auto that was awesome before i swapped to manual. what i might do is build a couple different ones with different gears and see what i like.

Re: gear ratios

any way from speed gear i got this reply since none here.

I am looking to change the gears in my d17a2 I was think about mix and matching gears from my EX manual with 2nd 3rd and 4th from an HX transmission. I was wondering if you can help me figure out what to order. 4th and 3rd are listed as mainshaft with gears on countershaft. Second is listed as only being a gear on the countershaft. Would I be ordering this correctly?

The gears must be replaced in sets (both shaft gears of same model). Each shaft has 1-5 gears on it. The Main shaft has the 1st and 2nd gear built into that shaft so you will need to keep the ratio of 1st and 2nd from one type of transmission and use the matching gears on the countershaft. 3/4/5 gears can be changed as long as you replace BOTH gears as a set from the transmission with the ratio you want.

Hope this helps

Second question is can the final drive be from a different tranny too. Now that you told me this. I would like to do ex 1 and 2 and final drive with hx 345

I have never done it but it should work. They both use the same cases and hardware so it should be a simple matter of exchanging the gears to the ratios you want.

Re: gear ratios

Hi guys I know that it's quite an old topic but I need to change the gear ratio in my EM2 on the 5th gear.

I'm the owner of Civic Coupe EM2 VII gen With Engine D17A9, and here are the problems stars. In States there is no such engine, am I right? My one is the Vtec: 125 PS (92 kW; 123 hp) at 6,300 rpm

And the thing is to change gear ration of the 5th gear, the highway speed allowed in Poland is 140km/h (about 87mph) and the revs are getting me crazy!

Can you help me what do I need to buy and exactly from what car/model/year/engine or the parts numbers (maybe the one from Europe?) Is it going to fit from all D series (D17/16 etc?)? to make the revs lower?

If there will be need more information just let me know I'll try to give you the answers. Also If there will be better/cheaper to buy parts in states It's also posiible, my co-workers are visiting states often so they will probably will be able to buy me what I need.

Thanks guys and waiting for answer

Marcin
