reverse noise!!

Hey guys im new to this website, i recently leased a 2010 honda civic lx coupe couple months ago.. im at about 5k right now and ever since i got the car, when i will go into reverse and back up the car a loud screetching sound will come... Almost as if metals are being rubbed onto one another

Does anyone know why this happens? what the problem is? i havent taken it to the dealer yet because the service at the dealer is horrible, might as well just take it to my dads shop

thanks!

Re: reverse noise!!

That doesn't sound good at all. So it isn't the whining noise, I'd take it and get it checked out.

Re: reverse noise!!

No its not the whining noise, it sounds as if the gears are grinding against eachother... last 3 times i took my car to the dealer for other issues they didnt replace anything, so im planning on taking it to my dads shop to diagnose the problem... he told me to drive the car with my e brake on for a while and i did and that got rid of the noise but its back again

Re: reverse noise!!

Could be the metal brackets on your brake pads, try to diagnose where the sound is coming from, have someone reverse for you slowly and listen around

Re: reverse noise!!

Just a guess, but that might be a problem with the rear drum brakes.

Do you have rear disc brakes or drum brakes?
