I just obtained a 01 Civic coupe with one working and one non-working ignition key. The local dealer wants $85 and 1 1/2 hours to program the extra key. IMHO - this seems a tad excessive. Are there any other options to this dealer?

Also - are there any outside sources for a replacement owner's manual? Are there any worthwhile shop manuals available besides Helms?

Haynes is coming out with a manual, it wont be as good as the Helms but for 20 bucks its not bad I bet. For the key, I dunno anyone else other then the dealer.

Thanks for the direction guys.
I ended up going over to Kolbe Honda and they tried to program the extra key for free. Unfortunately, it was a different series key that couldn't be programmed without doing the full blown engine diagnostics and programming. At the suggestion of a couple of the service writers (very courteous and helpful BTW) I purchased the correct series key for the princely sum of $39.95 and was on my way.

I will be picking up the missing owner's manual from good ole ebay. It looks like the factory manual from Handa.

There was a piece of plastic in the cigarette lighter power tap that was preventing me from plugging in the Escort. I got that out but there is no power to the socket. The under dash fuse rings out good but there is no power to that station on the block. All of the under hood fuses are good and there are no other outages in the car. I guess I will be dead in the water until I get a wiring diagram.

The PO hung a couple of cheap blue tint fogs in the front. No wires that I can see yet. There is also a hidden toggle switch under the dash with nothing hooked up to it. I guess that will have to come out.
