malfunction indicator light

Alright guys on my way to work this morning and my car was feeling funny like it was missing almost, it was kind of jumping a little bit not too much though. So I look down a little later and my malfunction indicator light is on the yellow one right above the temp gauge that looks like an engine. What do you guys think it is I know its not the gas cap I havent got gas in like 5 days. I do have a high flow cat but i've had it for like a year now and the light has never came on before. What do you guys suggest I do to fix it?

So if i unplug the negative cable and reset the ecu. If it stays off im good right but if it comes back on check the o2 sensor. Also I have an mil eliminator on the second sensor. Next question is that hurting my engine?

The 2nd O2 reads how well the catalization is done. So if you are not running a cat, that could be it. I do not know. Your best bet is to get the code pulled, then assess the problem from there.

If you have an Advanced Auto Parts store, they will read your engine codes for free.

It usually takes about 5 minutes. The plug is located under the drivers side dash next to the center console.

Alright guys I got it checked the guy said that the code was saying high voltage to the o2 sensor after that cat. So I bought one and installed it, like a day later the light came back on. What do you guys think it could be? Could it be the mil eliminator or anything else? Please help me!

Try putting the stock downpipe back on and see if that fixes it. It will eliminate another possible problem.

Well the only two options is the gas cap and the emissions right! So I know its not the gas cap and I dont want to put that back on, I like the extra hp I have from it.
Can anyone answer my other questions?

If your 2nd O2 sensor is getting High Voltage, it may actually be your MIL.

Did you install the MIL when you installed your high flow Cat?? I would think that just reseting the ECU would be enough to prevent the Malfunction Light from coming on. You will definatly Need a MIL if you Bored out the Cat, or straight piped it. But I don't know, has anyone one here done a High Flow with No MIL ???

My thought would be that the problem is either the MIL, the Sensor, or the wiring, I'm thinking an Aftermarket CAT can not increase the Voltage, and Becuase it's the Voltage it is somewhere in the connection between the Source, the Sensor and the ECU. So check you wiring, your Sensor and your MIL. If it is not one of those then you got me baffled.

Did you get the correct MIL, I don't think they are universal, I'm pretty sure you need one designed for our cars.

Good luck
