Rep Power: 0 Rhode Island ride height adjustment
Sorry if this is a repeat of an earlier topic, but does anyone know the legal ride height specs for Rhode Island? I was just pulled over because my car "looked like it was lowered" and apparently that is illegal in Rhode Island.. only I can't find a law about this anywhere. Got away with a warning, but still pretty annoyed and I'd like to see whether or not him pulling me over was justified legally or if he was just blowing smoke up my ***. FYI my car is only lowered 1.5"

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

I work with a larger guy......when he sits in a Civic, it IS lowered. A LOT. On one side.
Look under bumper height laws...
Rhode Island
Modification of original bumper height is illegal unless exempted (exemptions include some farm and forestry vehicles).

Looks like you can lower the car all you want, as long as you can leave the bumpers at the original height.
Register the car in another state.

Yea after I posted this I found a site that says you can't lift or lower your car more than 4". Definitely just a bullshit excuse to pull me over.
