Front License Plate Texas

Is it legal to keep your front license plate on the front dash of your car? or do you have to put it where the license plate is supposed to go?

Depends on where you live. I only have a rear plate ony my car. Each time I get pulled over, they dont bother me for it.

yeah, if they want to they can. I haven't ran into any problems yet without running it at all. just depends on the cop whether he wants to write it up or not. I just have mine in the trunk where the spare is just incase i go any where other than dallas.

In Houston, they'll ticket you if it's not on the front bumper. The ordinance states "front of vehicle" but that's a broad generalization because having the plate on the dash or windshield is "front of vehicle".

i've been pulled over for "speeding" (cop clocked the suburban that was PASSING me.....) and he gave me a small amount of shit for it. technically, it should be on the bumper, because i told him i had it on the dash, to which he replied, "i can't see it on the dash, needs to be on the bumper". i got a warning.
