Rep Power: 0 speeding in school zone?
I drove through a school zone the other day at 35mph and from what i recollect the lights were not flashing. (35mph is the speed limit on the particuliar road). I was pulled over not even realizing i had passed a school, and told i was speeding in a school zone. I got a $110 fine and 3-points. I NEED to get those points lower cause insurance is gonna kill me. I go to court to fight it Oct. 10. Anyone that has any ideas please post. Thank you in advance

Rep Power: 0 what time was it? go by the lights and they might have a time period that the lower speed limit applies. If not, try to find out (dont know where, talk to people) when they are on.

Rep Power: 352 Don't they write the time of the offense on the ticket. Couldn't you then go back and take a pic of the School Zone signs. They have times posted on them. Around here, I think it's like 7a.m.-9a.m. and 2p.m.-4p.m. Couldn't that be your evidence???

Rep Power: 0 Hey, I can't offer any help on how to fight your ticket, but I feel your pain! I got a tick on the 11th for going 36 in what I thought was a 35, but the officer claimed it was a school zone w/ kids. There is a public skatepark next to the school property, two boys were leaving the park towards the school on the sidewalk and those were the only children in the area and it was 4:15 in the afternoon. That particular school gets out at 2:30. I went to court to fight the ticket yesterday, but because Oregon law states it's a school zone anytime children are present the ticket wasn't dropped, but it was reduced by about 100 bucks (the base fine was $280 which should be doubled because it was a school zone All I have to say is it's a damn good thing that I had nothing on my driving record befor this! Not looking forward hearing from the insurance co. though. Good luck with your case!!
