Okay, here are the pics... Sorry about the quality, but my camera is not the greatest for a digital one. B)
The theme I chose, suggested by Drastik (From Cevo), was Clouds... REMEMBER, this is the first time I ever built a sub trunk or did ANYTHING like this in my life. Please don't heckle me too badly. Total cost of the project was around 400 dollars only because I bought some new equipment (Lights, subs) to go in it. Would have taken me about 2 days to build it, but I dragged it over a month. Did lots of investigating before I did final touches and corrections.
The blacklight doesn't show too well in the pics, looks purple. But, in the dark it looks REALLY good. When the Sub Rings flash it really ads to the effect. Next Friday I'll show it to those who want to see it (at Cevo meet) now that it's working the way I want it to. Might even have the DVD screen in the trunk too, not sure yet.

The next time you build a trunk, I would find a new spot for your amp/amps. Keep symmetry in mind. Make some osrt of display or platform for it (ie. having it floating on the clouds in each corner with some neon lights underneath it. Also, hide the wires. It makes it more clean. I would also look at angle your subs towards the viewer and try a different layout with them. IMO the key is keep it clean, have a focal point (what you want the viewer to look at first), make the viewer's eyes wander around the trunk, hide all wires. Just a thought

I agree 100%. I wanted to add a second amp, and still might. All the amp wiring is pretty much hidden. Keep in mind, this is/was my first build. I thought of angling the subs, plexi-glassing alot of stuff, etc. Just wasn't confident enough that it would work. Now that I have played around with this a bit, I think I could do a way better job. I actually want to start on my new sub trunk already. Thinking of a split level. Amps on top, angled and lit, sunk in with a plexi cover and subs on bottom, angled, lit, and under plexi, but corner mounted and angled to opposite corner with about a 20 to 30 degree tilt. Think it would look pretty good. Take a while to build it up tho.
hide the neon, nothing is gayer than seeing big neon rods in anything(undetrglow and inside cars), second the clouds look pretty weird imo and the symmetry/wires were already discussed, but its still better than nothing so you should get some points in shows now
Yeah, I hear ya. Eventually it will all be hidden. I'm going to build a new trunk over the next month, then I'll see what it turns out like. As you said tho, for now it will at least get me some points. My new design will be split level, and all sunk in. Should look pretty good when it's done. I'm going to be able to reuse the fiberglass bottom so it'll be less of a headache.
Thinking I might 'port' the next set up too. Not sure yet. Have to investigate the acoustical side of it and see how it will impact the performance and the sound range of the subs.
Also adding another amp to the system so it will be able to run at 2000 watts now that I have some heavier carriage subs.
Just thought I would add, I don't have undercar lights for just that reason. I hate being able to see the rods, and it just takes away from the vehicle. The ones that are hidden tho (Installed correctly) look pretty decent tho. Just too many people have them.
Definitely "A" for effort, especially considering it's your first time around. But the clouds thing didn't really seem to pay off. IMO; it seemed kinda grade school science fair-ish. For a trunk setup, you don't want to use materials like that, it seems too mickey mouse.
I would've assumed when nathan told you to use a clouds theme, he had something else in mind. Like say mounting the amp to make it appear as if it were floating. doing some glass around it and airbrush some clouds. possibly even a fog generator lol.
But I know exactly what you mean about stuff like this dragging on. When I built my enclosure (first try as well) it should've only taken a week. But it dragged on to over half a year. It's not exactly easy to do during school and losing interest throughout the year.
Thanks for the info. And I will check out the information. Like I said, I want to re-do it, but for now it will suffice. :-) At least it isn't a sub, a store bought mass production box, and me liking it. :-P
