Photoshop Question

I was reading a tutorial following steps but wtf is channel window and how do you create a new one. I'm following this tutorial.Link

hmm, it's one of your small windows inside the program. ummm, how can i say this? if you know where the "layers" window is, then the channels is a similar one, maybe as a TAB behind the layers or something. the easiest way to find it is to go to the "windows" menu and click "show channels." that should get it, or at least bring it into view if it's already opened....
