little off topic and maybe a dumb question, but what is the difference between the coilover kits and the coilover sleeves?

coilover kits, i think u are refereing to true coilovers, come with springs, struts, the whole suspension assembly, while just the coilover sleeves come with springs only, and adjustable sleeves which you slip over stock struts or other aftermarket struts.
Example:
True coilover: TEIN SS, BASIC, FLEX etc.
Coilover sleeves: Ground contols, B&G etc
