Has anyone seen the anime Kite, Opinons??? I thought the anime was way to short. Just as I started getting a feel for it, it suddenly ended. On top of that, It was way to predictable, when it was only part way through, I figured out what was gonna happen. I do have to say that the gunfight in the bathroom was probably one of the coolest i've seen, but besides that I didn't find anything I liked about this anime. I've only seen the censored version, cause that's all that existed when i bought the dvd (dope... last time I buy a anime based on the factory description...) Anyway, from what I can gather, the directors cut just has some explicit sex scenes involving the main girl, so that's probably not any better as far as the anime goes. This could've been a good story, but it was too short and simple.

Mark, I'd have to agree with you in terms of the plot. It was one of those "wouldn't it be cool to make a assassin story with a hot chick" movies. This movie is what I call a "resume" film. I haven't heard of the studio that produced it and the director. I did however recognize his style when I saw an android anime when I was chillin' in NYC watching Public Access. I was like "It's that guy who did Kite!" and my brother was like "oh yeah, I recognize that cinematography." Another example of a "Resume" film would be the Voices of a Distant Star. It was created/produced and voiced by one guy and his fiance on G4 Mac. That film is basically his ticket to get any job in any studio he wishes, but I think he'll probably go someplace like Gonzo that specialize in CG. Gonzo produced Blue Submarine no6, and a whole bunch of other CG works.
Alfred Hitchcock always said that you have to have a good script to make a movie. This was in my humble opinion not a good movie as a whole. Now, if it were to be dissected into scenes, or better yet photography direction, then this would be a keeper for a film student. The directors use of angles in the elevator scene was pure genius because he gave it the voyeur effect. I liked how a slight fisheye angle was used to suggest a hidden camera inside. The gunfight in the bathroom was reused in the cyborg anime and it was done better because it probably had a bigger budget. I wish I knew what the title was because it simply kicked @$$.
