IMO i don't think a person can ever get bored of dance music (unless there is a physical obstacle or the person is forced to think otherwise).
There are various levels of dance music. If you get bored of trance (you can only listen to Castles In The Sky or Heaven so many times before you start to vomit mid way through the song), I suggest you move to another genre. Some of my suggestion would be jungle, discotech, hardcore/happyhardcore. Those have very active choons, and if you can dance and do dance to it (these rythms are super easy to dance to), more power to yah. Please don't be mainstream and stick to an author or particular songs. One or two artists do not make a category.
Some dance picks (I don't remember most of the DJ's names so I'm not including them):
Elysium+, Let It Be The Night, Like An Angel, Wanting To Get High, Crazy Little Fingers, Leave Me Waiting. Pick up the latest copy of Happy2bHardcore (chapter 7), if you're interested. It's the 3rd best compilation cd in the dance category, following to other popular djs.
My trance picks (I'm a sucker for hopped-up oldies trance). Novespace "Time After Time", Pascal "I Think We're Alone Now",
Some trancey dance ish: "I believe In love" Paula Cole, "Damaged" Plummet, "Rapture" Iio, "One Good Reason" Nicole McCloud, "In My Dreams" Tina Ann
Lately I've been hearing a lot of good beats in rap/r&b music. Orchestral and good strings make for a great background in soft tone songs.
I like these:
Eminem - Superman
Field Mob - Sick of Being Lonely
Jayz feat Beyonce - Bonnie & Clyde
R Kelly feat Fat Joe - Who That

The first trance DJ I got into was D:FUSE. Check out his Psychotrance 2000 & 2001 and Progressive Mix Session 1.0. Of course, the following are all pretty awesome too: Micro, Tiesto, Oaky, ATB, Max Graham, Johnny Vicious, Armin Van Buuren, Christopher Lawrence, Aaron Simpson, Sasha, Tall Paul, Digweed, Ferry Corsten.. I have too many trance mix CDs to count. But do any of you people like breaks?! Some break DJs are DJ Icey (probably best known), DjX, Baby Anne, Sharaz, Huda Hudia, Chris Domingo, Penny Ray, D-MIXX, and Special Ed. If you like anything with a funky beat then you need to check out DJ Icey and DjX! Here's a list of my current various favorites:
Con - Let It Go
Ferry Corsten - Punk
Kosheen - Catch, Hide U
DjX - Scream
Chris Domingo - Cut It Up
Perpetuous Dreamer - The Sound of Goodbye
Paul Van Dyk - We Are Alive (DJ Icey's Artice Bass Mix)
Jus Cris - Cut'n & Scratch'n
Dumonde - Tomorrow
Gouryella - Tenshi
Soundcheque - Minddrive
Push - Strange World
Juno Reactor - Masters of the Universe, Pistolero
Eclipse - Entrancement
Tony Faline - Mind Over Matter
Baby Anne - Fury
Infiniti and Magic Mike - 2001
The Light - Expand The Room
Agnelli + Nelson - El Nino, Everyday (Remix)
Z2 - I Want You
Underworld - Kittens, 2 Months Off, Push Upstairs
Christopher Lawrence - Cruise Control
Delerium - Heaven's Earth (Matt Darey remix), Underwater (Rank 1 remix)
Schiller - Ruhe (Humate Mix)
Justin O' Brien & Joy - Andromeda
D:FUSE - Bodyshock
Micro - Fall Into Me, Soundbarrier
Conjure One - Redemption (Max Graham's Dead Sea Mix)
BT - Smartbomb (Plump DJ's Mix)
DJ Godfather - First Contact
Sharaz - Circuit Breaker
DJ Icey - Thor, Chain Reaction
Okay.. I think that's enough listed for now... Oh, and you mention if anyone knew any new hip-hop. Well, I got into N.E.R.D. over Xmas. I love their album. It's like a blend of hip-hop/rock/funk/rap/trip-hop. I maybe have picked up their CD late, and I hadn't heard anything by them besides Oaky's remix of 'Lapdance' on the Swordfish soundtrack. Plus a member of one of my favorite bands (Taproot), said that the N.E.R.D. was one of his favorites over the past year. So, that's why I picked it up (plus it was $9.99 @ Best Buy too ).

D:Fuse is pretty cool. He was an up-and-coming local Austin DJ at the same time I was attending school at the University of Texas at Austin. Now he's hit the big-time and is signed to Oakenfold's Perfecto Records label.
He still comes back to Texas occasionally to spin for the home crowd (spun two sets this past year at Houston's Hyperia). I haven't seen him back in Austin in quite a long time, though.
Heh, that's cool. Sometimes he wears a cowboy hat during his sets. And david02civic if you want some MP3s just IM me on AIM. My screen name is LogicGazer.

holy old thread batman. Does anyone want suggestions, well yea, Im gonna give you some
Paul van Dyk - Reflections album,
Oakie - Great Wall Album.
Check out Digitially imported. they are cool, and a good source. IMO, The united states is a weakness in the dance catagory. Europe is the place to go.

EXACTLY!!! Most of the dance music I listen to happens to be imported. There are a few stateside producers that rock me, but all in all, Europe is where it's at.
Originally posted by Prism Hello there I just saw Gabriel & Dresden live!!
Wow! How was the show? Did Gabriel and Dresden do a tag team DJ set? As far as I know, Dave Dresden does most of the DJ stuff while Josh Gabriel is pretty much strictly a producer.
G&D are one of my favorite producer duos around! They're pretty hot right now, with the recent release of the tracks Motorcycle - "As the Rush Comes" and Anadain - "Beautiful Things".
A bunch of guys in Houston are trying to get them booked for a Spundae gig.

I picked up the 3xLP of "Great Wall", because it had the new Quivver and Blackwatch track on it. Too bad they misspelled Quivver ("Quiver") on both the record sleeve and the record label .
The United States and Canada are starting to turn out a lot of great producers and DJ's as of late.
Deep Dish (DC)
Saeed and Palash (DC)
Sandra Collins (Orlando)
DJ Icey (Orlando)
Chris Fortier / Jimmy Van M / Balance Promote Group (NYC)
Danny Tenaglia (NYC)
Grayarea (Chicago)
Telefon Tel Aviv (Chicago)
Smight (Houston)
D:Fuse (Austin)
Momu / Jondi+Spesh (San Francisco)
Gabriel and Dresden (Los Angeles)
Luke Fair (Toronto)
John Debo / Steve Porter (Boston)
Randall Jones/ Tigerhook Corp (Philadelphia)
Martin Villeneuve (MV/Envy) (Toronto)
Max Graham (Toronto)
But all of the record labels are still in the UK for some odd reason. Yoshitoshi / Shinichi / Yo (owned by Ali and Sharam of Deep Dish) and Fade Records (owned by Chris Fortier) are basically the only big American labels. It's fairly odd to see an American artist / producer release his/her tracks on a foreign label, but it's pretty much the norm with electronic dance music.
The dance music scene in North America is really picking up, though. The big North American cities (Toronto, NYC, San Francisco, LA, Chicago, etc.) are becoming THE place for all the big DJ's to visit. The best way for all of us to contribute to the American scene is to keep on buying records and attending the shows. If people come, they will build it!

Gabriel & Dresden played a 2 and a half our set here in Vancouver. Canada! I loved every bit of it! The first half did Dave using the turntables and the other played Josh using an Apple laptop computer. Both of them are most down to earth and simply really cool guys, spoke to both of them in person. Took loads of pictures. Absolutely loved their performance. The crowd was singing along 'As the rush comes' that was a memorable moment.
I've seen some of the biggest DJs this year so far including
Tiesto, Sasha, Armin van Buuren, Mauro Picotto, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk, Lange, Rank 1, Thrillseekers, Darude, Johan Gielen, Jam X & DeLeon, Gabriel & Dresden and many more...
I am yet to see, Christopher Lawrence, DJ Dan, Bad boy bill, Steve Lawler, Adam Freeland and Tall Paul, not bad eh?
