| Oh i think the roast was terrible. He was NOT happy about the stuff those guys were saying about him. He had NO sense of humor and did some the fakest smiles and laughs I've ever seen. Take a joke Jeff! He's never been one of my favorite comics because he's a little too safe and schticky for my tastes, but I felt bad that he was out of his element up there. He should have had a thicker skin and been more prepared for the tougher comics' ribs on him.
He was totally out of his element. Foxworthy shouldn't have been onstage with edgy comics like Giraldo, DiPaolo, Quinn ect... Comedy Central did him a disservice there. You could tell he wasn't into their edgy brand of humor. Plus at the end, his attempt to roast back was terrible compared to the brutal stuff those guys threw at him.
I think Comedy Central liked how the Dennis Leary roast went so well, they thought they could do it the same way for Foxworthy... Clearly that was wrong. they should have put him up there with comics that are more at his speed. Instead they packed it with the "comedy central" crowd of comics. Leary's roast worked because he could throw it back even more brutally than they could give it to him... I just ended up feeling bad for Foxworthy, he just didn't fit in up there. |
