On Paper, Queen is the greatest band ever to walk the earth.
I don't think there's another band out there that has the range/talent/originality that Queen displayed during their run in the 70's.
Hell Yeah!! Freddy, IMO, is one of the best and most powerful singers of all times. Brian was so innovative with his sound. There are some songs where you think you are hearing horns, but it's Brian's guitar. That's insane!! Bow down to your QUEEN......
They have so many, from so many albums that it's hard to choose...
That's way too tough to say. I'll give you a few:
"Sweet Lady"----good all around rock song
"All Dead"----cool groove with piano, can't explain
"It's Late"----great riff, great song
"Show Must Go On"----the song gives me goose-bumps everytime I listen to it. The power of his voice on that song is amazing. I believe it was one of the last songs, if not the last one, he recorded just before he died.
"Stone Cold Crazy"----DAMN that songs just ROCKS!!
Well, everyone knows the classics like Killer Queen, We Will Rock You, We are the Champions, Fat Bottomed Girls.
I like
"Don't stop me now"- Great fast-paced uplifting song
"I want to Break Free"- I like this song...not sure why, but it has good connotations for me
"Dragon Attack"-I like the mini drum solo in the middle of the tune. Simple, but effective
"Seven Seas of Rhye"-Nice rock song...good and fast paced.
The cool thing about Queen is that they still would have been making new and interesting songs had Freddy Mercury still been alive.
I think Queen MUST have the broadest range of sound out of any band in history. I mean, from "Body Language" to "Bohemian Rhapsody" to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", no other band has been able to dabble in so many different styles with the same amount of success Queen had.

I couldn't agree more. Now I feel the need to go listen to them again.
I was just listening to Cake over lunch, I don't remember seeing them mentioned on here. Fashion Nugget is a great disc, Cake is one of the funniest live shows I've seen - if you ever get a chance to see them don't miss it.
Cake rocks, I agree they're awesome live.

Producers play music on the radio that will sell, and they know that crappy music sells.
It also has to do with image. Since when did how you LOOK affect your MUSIC?
Look at crappy radio bands. Not only does their sound fit a certain mold, but they have to look the part, too.
Now look at good bands. Do you think any fans care what members of Dream Theater or Rush look like? No, because people like them for their MUSIC. What a concept... liking a BAND for their SOUND.

Franky you're marginalizing successful bands. Just because something is on the radio doesn't mean it's bad. Just because something is popular, doesn't mean it's "crappy". Personally, I'm bored to tears by bands like Dream Theatre. My g/f is a big fan of them, so I've heard quite a bit. To me, it's just bad songs with a guitarist who's good but goes on way too long. That's just my opinion though, it doesn't mean they're crappy. There's this anamoly, especially with fans of rock music, that more success = less talent. I just don't get it.
^ I didn't say only crappy music is on the radio. Go read my previous posts. I just said the majority of mainstream rock bands have no talent. Talent doesn't mean the songs are going to be good, necessarily, and it gets even more complicated when you factor in people's tastes and opinions. But the fact remains that the large majority of radio rock bands have no talent. I've already spelled this out with numerous examples in other posts but I can do it again if you want.

Thought I'd reserect this thing. Last night my friend sent me a link to a local band here in CT. He runs sound, lighting, etc at a place called THE MADISON ARTS BARN in Madison CT. Anyways, he's always looking for acts to play there and stumbled across this band. For those of you who like RadioHead, SigorRos, Coldplay, and any other british group, check them out. I don't typically like local bands but these guys seem DAMN good.
