Originally posted by n318z I also agree but, wait I'm not allowed to post my opinions on this board, at least that's what I've been told. BTW thanx for hosting those pics !!
you know if they arent gonna allow you to post your opinions on this kit or the trouble or the issues youve had then they need to get their a$$es on here and defend their "perfect" kit. I remember when i was really interested in this kit, both me and spider, the TD guy was all over the forum posting and answering questions and stuff. where is he now. YOu need to be the informant on this kit now, looking at those pics, hearing the troublee and the missing s peices and all the other issues i wouldnt even have a second thought about this kit. SF would be my choice
Tonite we installed the missing bolt, tightened all of the bolts on the turbo, and reinstalled back in the car. Took the car out for another test drive. Good news: No leaks (oil, water, exhaust, and boost) and the car feels good. Bad news: ECU popped a code, clutch hydraulic fluid is overheating (causing stiff shifting). Will be installing heat shield on the clutch bleeder resevour and the lower AC line. Hopefully this Saturday I'll be taking the car over to an import tuner to have the ECU code looked at, wide-band tuned, and dynoed. Will continue to keep all of you posted.
Originally posted by MatrixShark This may not be as bad as it sounds. This is just speculation, but... Did the turbo damage itself during this mishap? It may be possible that the oil is leaking from the seal. Once the bolt is back in place, the seal may be tight again and the turbo repaired.
I called it... Seriously, I'm glad it was repairable.
Screw this kit, I dont even see the vendor defending his product. And honestly I thought SF was really lame at first what with everyone talking about how great it was before we even saw numbers. But after seeing how clean Cats setup looks and the numbers hes throwing down.. Id say that is an excellent setup. And I would rather pay extra not to deal with headaches from an irreputable company.
Using the group buy it's $2652. The SF kit uses a bigger turbo (non-ball bearing ) and a better exhaust manifold. That (kind of) makes up for the difference.
