Actually I think you're talking about a the difference between a supercharger and a turbocharger. A turbo uses the exhaust gasses being expelled to spool up the turbo, and therefore has to attached to the header. A supercharger I'm pretty sure is run electronically, therefore has no spool up time, and is located on the intake manifold. Sombody correct me if I'm wrong.
supercharger is run from a pulley to the crank. it is put by the intake manifold for convenience and air wont have to travel far.
as far as what trucka5 is talking about the intakes u see on the turbos are for the air getting sucked in. it is then compressed in the turbo and sent to the intake manifold.
the supra has twin turbos for quick spool up and nice top end. i believe they are two different sizes- one for low end, one for high end.
Yeah thanx guy's u cleared me up if u have questions on anything else holla at me and give me your aim mine is rollinondeuces22 so holla thanx so much, hey but i do know something about forced induction like centrifugal supercharger and positive. The centrifugal supercharger looks like a turbo though.

All turbo's have some sort of intake piping attached to them so the compressed air can be forced into the intake manifold. Thats the whole point of a turbo. Where else do you think it would be attached to?
