Before I drop my engine in to my civic, I want to tare down the engine, have the cylenders honed for new forged pistons and rings and have the head worked over. I'm having trouble finding pistons and valves for the type r motor. I can only find stuff for the type s. My queston is can I get the type s pistons and valves and put them in my type r motor with no problems? If the type s pistons will work, I want to get Wiseco 11.7:1 pistons. The 11.7:1 is the closes I can find to the K20's stock 11.5:1 compression ratio.
TIA,
Thomas

yes you can use Type S pistons, its the same block. Only difference between the Type S and type R was slightly higher compression and slightly more aggressive cams.

Cool thanks.
Judging by your response, same goes for the valves?
yeah man..its basically the same engine...you should check out k20a.org or xproductions k20 thread. lot of good info there.
Awesome. Yeah I printed off xproductions K20 swap walkthrough and bought Arron Bonk's "Honda Engine Swap" book to help in the process. Can't wait to get this started. My K20 has been sitting in my garage for about 8 months now.
