Quick K20 Questions ALMOST DONE!

Just need to know what type of suspension other people have used and if they stayed with the 5 lug or 4 lug suspension (im sticking with 4 lug someone told me its do-able. Second i have a 05 RSX engine harness this means i need a 05-06 kpro? (i saw the prices they are about 500$ more then the older year kpros....damn i got a good deal on the harness to )

i put RSX springs on my car since our cars like to sag in the rear without coilovers. i also have the 5-lug swap but it doesn't matter either way. i ended up putting civic springs back on and now the back sags again. sucks. props on almost having a k20 though!

Re: Quick K20 Questions ALMOST DONE!

i would suggest to "downgrade" to a 02-04 wire harness, less problems

Re: Quick K20 Questions ALMOST DONE!

If I were to do a swap again I would just use the 02-04 engine harness. When the shop did my swap they had hard time getting the harness to work but they figured it out. The car wouldn't start because something was not getting ground. I can't remember if it was the fuel pump or something else...but they eventually figured it out.

Also for the speedo the 02-04 tranny has the same type of speed sensor as our civics. The signal is the slower pulse signal setup. The signal from the speed sensor is sent to the ecu and to the instrument cluster in parallel.

On the newer 05-06 RSX's the tranny speed sensor sends a faster pulse signal. This faster signal is first sent to the ecu. Then the ecu converts the signal to the slower pulse signal so that the speedo can understand how fast the car is going. If someone tries to send the faster pulse signal straight to the cluster and ecu in parallel like in our civic set up the speedo won't work because the speedo can't understand the faster pulse signal.

So if you want your speedo to work use 02-04 engine harness, 02-04 K-Pro's setup and 02-04 tranny sensor.

or

05-06 engine harness, K-Pro's 05-06 setup that comes with a jumper harness, 05-06 tranny speed sensor. Then you have to take a wire and connect it from the ecu to the speedo input of your instrument cluster. Sorry I can't remember which pin it is on the ECU but Hondata has some info on their support page.

Good luck and have fun.

Re: Quick K20 Questions ALMOST DONE!

When I did my k20a2 swap into my eg I used a 05-06 harness with 02-04 kpro... I had to modify some wiring to get it to work but my tuner did the rest...the speedo was off because it was still measuring the speed as if the car had the 17" wheels with tires while I had 13" wheels and tires but I used a friends 08 si and a local radar things that shows your speed to figure out how fast I was really going.

Re: Quick K20 Questions ALMOST DONE!

just get an 02-04 harness makes like easier....hybrid-racing now has a lil' chip thing that allows the VSS signal to be converted so that the gauge cluster will now work when you use a 05-06 tranny with a 02-04 engine. Other people i've seen use a dakota digital box...which you can find on their website
