Best Turbo For D17??

I have read alot about turboin our cars and I still have no idea what size to buy.. Yes I know the T3/T4 does not spool up till about 3,400+ RPMs, and it can put out more HP then a T25. And I dont really care that the T3/T4 will throw me in my seats. And people tell me that the T3/T4 is to big for out cars so what do you all think? I just want w/e will be best for 6-8 PSI on the stock motor. Yes I will be getting RSX injectors and eather an e-manage or EMS. Also the cars around my area there BOV's sound soo sick, but do ours sound the same? But Im only looking for around 275whp max, for now and in the future mabye if I have the $ and if it would be worth it. To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

I will be getting the Dezod V3 kit which has a t3/t4. Its not too big for our cars. Insted of the emange system check out the PCS-XFC computer. I just think for all the R&D that Dezod has put into their systems that if the t3/t4 turbo was not a good choice that they would of changed it by now. the guys at Dezod rock and are very friendly and honest about products they sell.

You seem to have answered your own question. you want the hp of a t3/t4 but you want the spoolup time of a t25. You have to decide which way you want to go. A t25/28 will run out of power band sooner than a t3/t4. If you want light to light racing power then go with the t25/t28. If you want to be able to "chase" people down on the highway and between those longer lights get the t3/t4.

My dezod spec'd turbo with the log manifold fully spools at around 4k which still leaves 2800 more rpms left. 1st gear at WOT only yields 4-5 psi because its such a short gear. Then 2nd-3rd from 4k on im at 9 psi till redline. You can improve spoolup time a few different ways such as: exhaust upgrade (2.5 or 3"), equal length manfolds, you can tune cam and ignition timing to make it come on faster. All these things can come into play if you really wanna get serious with it. 275 whp won't be reliable on stock internals, at least not for a long time. all things to think about and more money to spend.

I see.. What about 210whp stock? That be ok? Cuz I just want around 200whp for now, later on pistons, rods and all that can be added.. Now with the T3/T4 when drivein threw parking lots since its a bit bigger you wont hear the BOV right?

Well what do you want to do? make power? or make cool BOV sounds?
Even a GT28R doesn't make boost at idle, theres no way a T3/4 is going to.
If you want to make power through out the powerband, pick a smaller one.
If you want to make a lot of power on top, get a bigger one.

You can make 275 whp reliably with a good, conservative tune. A t3/t4 57 trim would be a good route to go. It can be done. There's a d16 on evans-tuning.com that has been pushing 300 whp for quite some time now. If he can make 300 whp reliably ona stock d16, no reason you can't make 275 on a stock d17. Just remember that tuning is key.

What bout 4th and 5th?

BTW, our new manifold has proven to cut spool up time in just about every gear. Average of 300-500 RPMS per gear.

heh, ive never went full boost in 5th. Maybe 3 or 4 times in 4th usually I run out of road before I get that far.

yea^^ but EMS costs half of a whole turbo setup. type S injectors is what your looking for. you don't really have an intake manifold...lol.

Well what I ment was can the rsx type-s injectors work with 275whp? And if not then I would have 2 do like a D16 or GSR IM swap thing and get a high flow fuel rail and bigger injectors.. Is e-manage easyer to tune then EMS?

The RSX injectors will never support 275whp. They would be running at 100% almost all of the time. You can RSX injectors on the stock IM and rail with just merely longer studs. Anything larger than the RSX injectors requires modification and/or a custom FR & IM.

With respect to tune, you will get far more reliable tuning from the AEM EMS than any other unit. The next best one is the PCS unit because of the ability for it to skew O2 sensor feedback to prevent ECU re-learning.

I would not say you NEED a vac manifold. It is a luxury. It makes life a bit easier and cleaner. Not 100% necessary. No our kit does not come with it. We supply about 4ft of VAC line, and 2 Vac T's.
