i just installed an older greddy timer (all black with red lcd display) and everything works except the alarm. When the car is counting down, I can arm it by holding the button. But as soon as the car turns off, the alarm deactivates. how can i make it not do that?

it sounds like it has something to do with the relay that the alarm uses.. technically your alaram arms thinking your no longer in the car... then when the turbo timer turns the car off it thinks your tunring the key hence the reason why it disarms... try playing around with the wires and the location of the alram rely (where ever it may be whoever installed your car) and see what happens

just out of curiosity but why did you install a turbo timer ?

well in about a year i'll have turbo. i'm just getting things along the way and installing them if i can to save time.

what turbo do you plan on using ??

why not just pick up a used DSM T25 off ebay and piece together a kit

you have to wire the ignition wire on your alarm to a accessory on your car. your alarm reads your car as on thats why it wont arm. holding your alarm button does a force arm but thats not what you want. after you rewire it then it will arm.

ah thank you. i'll see if the installers can do that cause i don't know much about alarm wires.

you could do it the way hydroflare is saying, or you could program it for passive arming and it will arm itself after the timer shuts off.

its pretty easy. The alarm is tapped into one of the ignition wires. I believe it is a 20 guage red wire. Just cut that.

but before you do any cutting, please make sure im giving you good info. Its been 2 years since i installed my turbo timer.

in that case, cut the yellow wire going from the alarm to the ignition harness, but make sure it stays connected on the relay side, otherwise your starter kill relay or anti-grind (if you have remote start) will stop working. And hook that yellow wire to an accessory, black/red or white/red i think? one of those two, i dont remember. It's whichever goes to 12V+ when the key is in the first position.

well I have a DEI Python alarm system which the ignition wire on that is the yellow wire. Look up your install manual for your alarm for the ignition wire on it. For the the accessory wire, I tapped it into the 12 gauge white w/red ignition 2 wire on my civic by the steering column. Does your cd player turn off when you take out the key? If it doesn't then you may have to rewire your turbo timer too. If it does turn off then check the white /w red wire with a test light or a multimeter. The wire should show 12v-14v when your car is on and should turn off when you take the key out.

my cd clayer turns off when i remove the key. i know the yellow wire but not sure how to cut and wire it to the ignition accessory. its right under the dash running near the fuse box.

dont cut the wire. just stop by a Home Depot or Loews and pick up the big light yellow tap connectors. Tap into the wire, test it with a multimeter or test light. if its the right wire then connect your alarm ignition wire to it. I think what else you can do is tap it into any accessory wire (for instance the 12v power to your cd player).

but its a big wire. i should connect to the ignition 12v accessory. i know which wire cause it ssays in the turbo timer diy. but yea i have a multimeter so i'll make sure its the right wire.

okay i tried this and didn't work. i'm gonna just cut the wire and leave it open and see what happens.

Okay here is what happened. I cut the yellow wire and tried connecting each side to the accessory wire. One side did nothing, the other side made a bad buzzing sound and the turbo timer didn't work.

So the solution: cut the yellow wire and tape up both sides. You can now arm with the timer and car still on, but no more starter kill. I'm not worried cause there are planty of security still like immobilizer and e-brake safety.

other systems affected:

-no ignition switch starter kill (oh well)

-door auto lock/unlock does not work (I like better)

-alarm always thinks it has been set off, chirps 4x instead of 2x when disarming (meh?)

-dome light no longer turns on when ignition is off, but now key must be removed from acc position and then they come on (I like better too!)

-I think also the dome light doesn't turn off when you start the car but goes off by itself within 30 secs.

I think thats all, I better make sure the actual alarm is working tho.

Do you have a DEI brand alarm? My viper alarm has an option for "armed while running". So could arm the alarm while im in my car and driving. its supposedly for anti car jacking.

That is strange, I have a DEI alarm too, but I wired it the same way I explained and it worked just fine. I can arm when the turbo timer is running. When I arm the car, the dome light turns off and when i disarm, the dome light turns on.

does it unlock once the car shuts off or you've never waited to see? anyway i took it out. didn't like where it mounted and really i don't even need a timer. I can afford sitting for a couple mins or driving slow before stopping.

It stays armed after the car turns off. What you can do is look for a wire that shows 12v when your car is on. Then take the key out and the turbo timer should be running, if the wire you checked turns off when the car is still running, you can use that wire. It has to be a wire that shows 12v when car is on and no power when your key is out with turbo timer running. That wire should be connected to the ignition wire on your car alarm brain. Since you have a immobolizer, your starter kill is not needed. I am not sure how your wiring is on your alarm, but I have my starter kill still working.

What If I have the OEM alarm and I want to arm and lock my car befor ethe car turns off.....what should i do then?

you gotta do some rewiring. search on yahoo i found something that explained it for a different car.
