Ok, so here we go. It's been a long time coming and I've been reading a little bit the past few days because I'm getting ready to pick one up.
02fpcivic is running the 30-1070 (which doesn't allow utilization of the ac control or coolant temp gauge.) This unit works for the d17 but is not the model designed for it.
Then there is the 30-1030. This one allows use of everything but you have to keep the factory ecu (only 7 wires are utilized, I believe.) So the stock ecu continues to run the things the 1070 doesn't and allows them to function together. This is the actual unit specifically for the d17.
Now, on AEM's website, it still says coming soon. In the aem forums, the techs that are testing it have said it will be available in 3-4 weeks. I asked in the forum to see what the deal was but I've seen the 1030 on ebay for sale already. Anyone have any truth to whether or not it is on sale?
I would bet that aem just hasn't begun to sell the 1030 yet but they may've begun distributing it. Anyways, just a tidbit of an update for those who don't know.

Yeah they should be coming out soon from what I gather. The 1030s you are seeing are probably not actually available. For instance my 1070 wasnt available for 2 weeks after I bought it.
WORD TO THE WISE: ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, MAKE SURE TO HAVE IT TUNED BY A CERTIFIED AEM TUNER.
There are a TON of things that even a pretty experienced tuner will not know all the details on. It looks somewhat simple but Ill assure you its a whole other ball game altogether. Figure on spending another 6 - 8 hundred on tuning. I will be dropping mine off at Trick Engineering in NH on friday. Those guys are pretty crafty with stand-alones.
Yeah, many of us are waiting for this EMS but AWARE OF THOS EBAY SELLERS. I've asked all of them selling it for a picture of the box to make sure it is the 1030 and none of them have answered me or have said that it is actually a 1030.
yeah a few people I called said they had them, and when I told them to double check they were like ummm, its not in stock yet, call back next week or you can preorder. That was LAST YEAR! hah imagine if I preordered a $1500 1030 a year ago, that woulda sucked. I dont have A/C anymore and I dont care about the factory coolant guage so I opted to get the 1070 as soon as I could.

From what I've seen Trick Engineering in NH is has built and tuned alot of cars and most of them had poor installs and very poor tuning.
If you are in the MA area and want to know who is good at tuning and who is ALSO an AEM certified Dealer/Tuner, you can PM me.
