Piecing together a turbo kit? Here's a part list...

I just finished my turbo kit, so here's a list of all the individual parts you need to make a full turbo kit. This can be stickied because it gets asked all the times. Piecing together a kit is a complete and total headache, and I would probably just buy a kit next time...You can also go with a completely custom/ full-blown set-up with a fully built block, complete standalone, but I will not be discussing that here. At the end of the list is labor...followed by some questions you should ask to make sure everything is going to work out.
In paranthesis is what I would recommend, followed by the average price so you can tally up your pricing...

(Remember EX has an aluminum oil pan)?
Do all your fuel / oil fittings fit correctly with each other?
Does the turbo footprint match your manifold?
Do you have gaskets for all your turbo components?
Will A/C or P/W interfere with your manifold/ downpipe/ wastegate/ turbo?
Do your vacuum lines match their respective components?
Will your piping hold under boost?
Can your fuel set-up handle 60+ PSI?
If your oil return/feed line sized correctly with correct fittings to not rub on the downpipe or any other hot/ moving components of your engine?
Where will you get the car tuned?

Anything I missed feel free to let me know...thanks! Sticky this!

If there's anything I left out, let me know...thanks!

if there is a kit that has all the stuff that you want then a kit will prolly be cheaper. But im sure if you are a shopper then you can get a custom setup cheaper. It's all a matter of what you want/need/must have. I went custom because this way i can say I built my turbo kit. And i have learned a lot from it. But if your not in to fabricating stuff and searching for all the misc stuff you need, then i would suggest you go with a kit.

Good write-up

I'll leave this stickey'd for a week or so. I added it to the Turbo FAQ, but there already was a custom kit FAQ (which wasn't as thorough as this one). Like I have said before, its very helpful when people write this stuff up, I just hate cluttering the top of the forum with stickeys that can be condensed into one... aka: The Turbo FAQ

i see you're going T3/T4 hybrid. I also know that HKS has a exhaust manifold with a t25 flange. I'm pretty sure a T3 is bigger than a T25, but a T25 would spool quicker...right? And also be good on a stock aplication, i.e. stock internals. You can also pick up a T25 failly cheeply from those DSM heads that just throw them away.

I'm just curious to see the pros and cons of T3/t4 vs. T25. Personaly I'm just looking to hit around 200 to the wheels at around 8psi. Nothing too extream. I'm not rich by any means.
