so is that the same basic engine as the k20a2 USDM? or is it 11.5:1, LSD, and all those other goodies of the JDM k20a?

its going into a 2001 DX... you can think of it as an EX if you want cause i did my own power windows and EX head swap on it.... but the frame itself is the DX

supposedly this engine puts out more HP than the TYPE S but less HP than the TYPE R.....but at the same time this motor puts out more TORQUE than the TYPE R

atl01 will become famous soon enough
likes similar to the base RSX motor, with the plastic intake manifold. Does it use the same dual runner intake manifold as the base RSX? But have similar to a type S head?

the base is an A3 which can be found in the 2002+si or Base Rsx... the A3 doesnt have real vtec cause it uses only 2 cam lobes on the head.. the A2 has 3 cam lobes on the intake and exhaust side...this motor has 3 intake lobes on the intake side but uses something similar to vtec killer cams on the exhaust side

eh ... that's a k20a3 motor man ...

I realize it has real vtec on the intake side, but it doesn't have any on the exhaust side ... plastic intake mani.

I'm not exactly sure why there are 3 lobes on the intake cam and none on the exhaust cam ... I saw those same pics on clubrsx, but I can't find the thread.

edit: nevermind, I found the thread ... and it's by you:

http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread...5&page=1&pp=25

edit again: I read the thread and thread the link to the Malaysia/Thailand K20a's ... they are automatic trannies and their engine puts out 155 ps, which is about 149 hp.............

hey aznboysrfr....first off did you look at the engine code on my motor?? a k20a3 has 2 intake lobes and says k20a3 on the block.. i know this cause i have another k20 which is the A3....did you fully read the clubrsx topic??....if you have then you would have known that the motor i have doesnt even match the specs of the motor in that discussion of the malaysia if you read all of the posts... the malaysia motor does not have dual runner intakes and the motor that they has is an automatic.. i have a 6 speed.... the only thing that discussion has that even comes close to matching what i have is the head.. so be careful on what you say before posting it.. get the facts straight... and i quote some things i say from there on post #41-----

"""yea but the article still leaves a bunch of things unanswered.. it explains the 3lobes but doesnt exlpain the rest.. the motor that they have in malaysia and thailand is a k20a with single runner intakes.. here read this taken from the article

"The K20A uses a single runner intake manifold design. The runner lengths are tuned for optimal torque at high rpm to complement the wild intake cams for 'VTEC-on' operation. Visually the intake manifold used in this K20A is the same design as those on the EP3 Civic Type-R and DC5 Integra Type-R but with a smaller throttle body and quite probably with smaller inner dimensions as well"... upon closer insepction mines comes with dual runners if you look at the pictures

second the motor that they have there comes with (according to the article) "The gearbox is a Grades Logic Control equipped 5 speed unit equipped with Progressive Shift technology which helps to ensure seamless and very smooth gear changes. The gearbox incidently is the source of a lot of debates amongst enthusiasts. While it offers 5 gears and thus a lot more flexibility than normal 4ATs, the issue lies in its gear ratios. The ratios are 2.684, 1.500, 0.983, 0.733, and 0.571 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gears respectively. The final drive's ratio is 4.562."... basically an automatic with those dang push shifters... my motor came with a 6 speed tranny

next there motor in malaysia comes with power assisted steering quoted here
"Coming to the rest of the car, the K20A Civic comes fully spec'ed as is the norm with cars marketed by Honda Malaysia. In addition to the now standard set of ABS, EBD, BA and dual-SRS, the K20A Civic additionally has EPS (electrical power steering) similar to the City and Jazz.".. then even post a picture next to it

my motor has the full powersteering pump and not the assist as they have stated..."""

and to conform the findings i actually brought the motor down to acura and they have verified its a motor from europe.. heres what they found out

compressions ratio is 11:1
since the head was off they also found out the bore 87mm with a displacement of 1998cc...
tranny gearings are the same as the type S

they had this motor in there hands for 5 days before i got it back from them... while they were at it they changed the oil and oil filter and checked the cams to make sure it was still in working order
