Just wondering if anyone has knowledge of the AEM engine management system, how much hp could be gained with
1) Just tuning on a stock D17.
2) Tuning on an all motor D17 making about 175 whp
3) Tuning on a Turbo D17 making about 195 whp on stock internals
4) Tuning on a all motor + 75 shot of NOS D17 making about 250 whp
Also how flexable is the management system and if it is even worth it??
Probably reference from older model D series engines would also be of some help!!!

To answer some of your Q's.............
AEM EMS is not out for the D17 for starters.
Tuning on an N/A car, I have seen results up to 35 WHP with EMUs.
Tuning on a turbo car, I have seen results of up to about the same.
All though the all motor apps with that high of gains were: a Cobra, Mustang 5.0 & Neon.
Most tuned FI apps: S/C Cobra, TT Supra & SRT-4.

Soon to AEM is within 5 years....That piece has been in development since shortly after we opened, which was 3 years ago.

I talked with AEM's EMS r and d guy (he is a member here who bought my stock rims and tires.) There will never be a d17 set up for ems....BUT they are working on one for cars with swapped K series engines. This with a little tweaking will work for our engines. We just have to wait for that application to come out.

I know right. I like the emanage I have but I really wanted the aem ems. WTF, its a civic, one of the cars that virtually started the whole import market. Its bull. They know that we will buy it. So it seems like they are either lazy or to busy developing things for the people that only bring in big dollars. I understand that business is business but still. Always take care of all the little guys too because every customer is supposed to be important.
The D17 EMS is out... kinda. They have basemaps and all that is required to run, but not the wiring pack. You'll have to wire a custom changeover harness from your stock wiring to the EMS box. The box is the 30-1070 box, and it is available now.
They are not being lazy about developing an EMS specifically for our cars, Honda was stupid in designing the cars. The multiplex system that drives almost all the gauges and a lot of other crap in our cars is extremtly tough and expensive to crack, and that is why there is no direct replacement EMS out for us yet. They are working on it, I talk to someone at AEM at least every two days or so, but it's taking time to get the multiplex system figured out.
So for now you can use the 30-1070 box, but your coolant gauge and a/c switch won't work, and you'll have to make a wiring harness.
Direct quote from AEM's site:
Quote:
The 30-1070 supports vehicles that have swapped the following engines.
K20A2
K20A3
K24A1
D17A1
D17A2
These motors originally came from the RSX Type-S, RSX Base/Civic Si, CR-V, Civic EX, and Civic DX/LX, respectively. While the 30-1070 can drive these motors in the vehicles listed above, the EMS will not support the factory A/C Switch and Coolant Gauge that are driven by Honda's Multiplex System (Datastream/CAN Bus).

If you haven't lifted the head off of the block, you're not racing fast enough.

Thank you Rice burner..
i was about to write a crazy rant about how its a skip and jump from being out for our cars.
I had a friend use the 1070 box with his k20 swap(got it to try it for free).. but it worked like crap.
The K20 is hard to tune, but it can be done well. There's one running around Oklahoma and two I know of in Texas that have the AEM systems, and are doing well. Just took a lot of work to get it running the first time, and to get everything set.

so the 30-1070 will work , but the coolant gauge and a/c switch wont work? hmm, ill sacrifice ac and buy an autometer temp gauge if i can have an ems!! -- Jeremy
