Is this gonna be a log style? or equal length mani? and will the manifold be ready for sale before the whole kit does?
Working with my engineers for the best possible design and leaning towards a log style, but nothing is definite. Yes the mani will be ready for sale prior to the kit.
ummm, i dont understand what you mean by "special grade stainless steel"...this looks like the same stuff that i am using to build my manifolds...it is just standard wall 90's and some stainless tubing...what grade stainless are they...304, or 316...how is everything going to be welded....is your welder heliarcing it, or migging it...are you making it for internal or external wastegates...
i am also in the process of developing a manifold for the d17...i think that it will be interesting to see how they both turn out...best of luck to you man...

I am not welder....I will ask him what he plans on doing with it. I can not convey what grade of SS we are using, because this is going to be our trademark that differentiates ourselves from the "standard 304 SS" users. Our unit will be made for an external WG BTW. Looks maybe the same, but I guarantee that it is not the same stuff your using.
How can you be sure of what i am using...you say that you are using a super thick walled stainless fittings...(in your first post)...the fittings in pictures are standard wall fittings...the most common ones... i know this because i am experienced, i have a couple years of pipe fitting and a welder helper under my belt...you material looks good, and the flanges do also, but they will need to be resurfaced after you weld them do to warpage...and on the different grades of steel, you WILL not notice a difference on a dyno from any of the different grades...the only difference that you will notice is the temperature of the metal...and that will be a minimal difference...not enough to matter considering the price difference of the grades of stainless...so why waste the money of some "secret grade stainless"....i am sorry, but i am not tryin to be an but i hear a little too much salesperson in your voice....and why wont you tell me what type you are using...there are only soooo many....304,316,309,310,312,3cr13,430,& Cromanite.....many of those are too expensive to use for a manifold...
Is good to know that are few more vendors developing parts for a D17 i remember back on the days of 2K1civic.com when thre was not a header available.
I've being looking at this forum for awhile and seen the different challenges and milestones some of you guys are accomplishing.
on the mean time i'm preping my engine with strong internals and more just waitting for the perfect kit to come along with all you guys hard work.
Thank you and keep up the good work.
I'll be getting a kit from someone soon but I think that more than just parts, the service and tech support will be what I'll be looking for on a distributor. I NEED A TURBO SPONSOR, ANY ONE?
....i am sorry, but i am not tryin to be an but i hear a little too much salesperson in your voice....and why wont you tell me what type you are using...there are only soooo many.......
Ya know, I don't have to sell this product. It WILL sell itself. I do not want to disclose the materials so that someone or somebody else will attempt to replicate it.
You should understand what I mean..........................
That's all. I do not have to sales pitch any of our products that we carry. Our products sell themselves.
I know that the different grades will not make a difference performance wise. We are using these materials to have low thermal conductivity, easy welding capability, crack resistance, easy to work with, long term corrision resistance......

dezod, i do understand what you mean, you were just starting to sound like Stafford and his fuel system...(its top secret)...me and the other 7thgeners on here just want people to be honest on here...i am not at all comparing you to Mike Stafford, so dont think that...i know that you are reputable...and i for one already have the material that i want to use for my manifolds already picked out....i was just curious as to what you were using...i am using standard wall short and long radius 90's and 45's...most are cut for proper fitment...as far as flanges, we are going with .5in thick stainless plate....the design is going to be as equal length as we can get it...it will look nice...as different as we can get it...i have myself, 2 pipe fitters and 2 welders workin on it, and we still cant seem to find time to finish them...(we all have full time jobs...)
well if you want to do it right my father has a high performance casting shop (cast aluminum) lighter and stronger-nowelds so if u get a design they canmake molds and exact diameters
Edit: This is not a place to promote your fathers shop...
