AEM EMS or E-Manage & Profec-E01

I am looking for a good reccomendation on what Electronics I should be using to get the most our of my setup without destroying my mind with problems.

My setup: Build D17 (good up to about 20 PSi), Ported head w/ titanium springs & retainers (wanted approx 9000 rpm redline - hopefully Jet can do this for me), 74 mm TB, Intake Manifold, AEM Cam Gear, SF Turbo system with all upgrades. Possible 75-100 shot of nitrous in the near future too.

I plan on just running 10psi for a little bit until I get this new engine bruke in (500miles or so), then upping to about 18psi for some special ocassions on the track & around town.

I have at home now the full Greddy system (E-manage, Profec-E01, ignition & injector harness & software) not installed yet, but I have seen something about this AEM EMS that can control almost everything I have and more, but is more expensive.

I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with this AEM product and can make some reccomendations to me about my setup.

Should I stick with the Greddy stuff & can it do everything I need, or should I find some way to cough up the bucks for this AEM EMS.

Thanks for all your valuable input into this, I am finding that once you start there is always more info needed, and more $$$. But damn I couldn't just leave the car stock!

The EMS isnt out yet and I didn't feel like waiting for it so I just went with the Emanage. The EMS can control alot more than the Emanage. Only down side is it's pretty complicated.

Good luck.

Go to the AEM forums it's not out yet. I think they mentioned issues with the datastream. Catalogs are a marketing tool

The EMS is not out yet, they are having issues with the datastream controller, immobilizer, and a few other things on our cars. As of yesterday, they say it will be shipping in 5 months at most.

The EMS is much more capable, and accurate, than the E-manage. It replaces your stock ECU, not just piggybacking and trying to correct the stock ECU. It is more complicated, but AEM's technical support is great, and there are many people using the EMS on other cars that you can ask for help. GReddy's support sucks, it always has. The AEM can also control many other things, such as boost, nitrous, propane, staged injector systems, traction control, and gear dependent boost and rev limits. I've tuned an EMS on a Supra and an EVO, and we gained at least 40hp just by putting the EMS on and tuning it properly.

Full replacement ECU's are better than piggybacks, but usually more expensive and complicated. But always a lot more accurate and can change more things than a piggyback will be able to.

i saw that, they didnt have it on the site, but thats common most companys lagg to update there web sites. it was the AEM catalog the one they send to there authorized dealers. it had the part# and i belive some one on here is running it. they probly had a reacall then if they are haveing problems with the datastream. i also remember giveing them a call from my freinds shop about this when i saw the catalog so they did have out for a while.

Green Civic is an unknown quantity at this point
The EMS is just like the k-pro for the k-serie motors in the rsx. It has many different settings and functions the e-manage cant touch. I'm not sure on the release date, but it should be somewhere like riceburner said.

MadWheel will become famous soon enough MadWheel will become famous soon enough
everyone says it's complicated... to me the EMX would be easier than my emanage install with all the harnesses...

The EMS is direct plug in, no cutting or sauldering making it very easy to hook up. The tuning however, is more difficult because the unit is much more powerful.

OK, so we still have not decided if it is avaliable, but we agree that is is harder to tune, but better for the full control. If it is not avaliable, is there some other way I can raise the rev limiter to 9000 rpm, Jet chips, says they can't, Hondats says no, anyone else?

Have fun blowing your newly built motor running 10psi to break it in. That's the best way to **** that shit up..bad..

Try running no psi to break the motor in and running it lean as well. Do that for 1000 miles then you should be okay to run at 8 for another 500 miles.. then you can up it to 10 for another 500 miles, they you're cool to run 18 or 20 or whatever you want.

OK thanks man, I was planning a break in stage with no boost, for only 500 miles though, but I might up the number. It takes me a long time to put miles on my car, I am out of town most of the time, I have had this car for 3.5 years or so & it has less than 9000 miles on it so far.
