What would be your dream pc setup, components, software, memory, peripherals, internet connection?
THe purpose is for gaming. I am trying to decide on a new PC setup to get so that I can play UT.
I currently am running a Micron PC 733mhz on 5200rpm HD's with 128mb RAM. This is just too slow to keep up with the other 12 year olds i play against. My system is over 3 years old.
I want something great. Pretend like money is not an option. Gimme what ya got!

P4 3.06ghz HT processor, Asus P4T533 i850E motherboard, 1 gig of Rambus RAM, ATI 9700 Pro video card, Plextor DVD Drive and Burner, 15,000 RPM SCSI dual 160gb HD's, Vapochill case (-35 degree core temps ) 21" plasma monitor, and a 1000w+ surround sound system, all connected to a OC-192. I would never leave my room.
And if ur lookin to build a reasonably priced system with a lot of power, PM me or email me, and i can build a system for any price range. I can build it for u, or just tell ya what to buy.
lol if u take the monitor off it will cut ur costs in half...
with monitor your prolly lookin 6'g+, without i think i could make it for around 2500, maybe a little less.
The system im running now is a p4 1.8a ghz overclocked to 2.4, 512 PC2700DDR, geforce 4 ti4200, 52x Burner and DVD, 60gig 7200rpm HD. With case and power I could build it for under $1k
Yea, I just got a flat panel LCD 18" monitor for Christmas. I'll look into getting this setup you are talking about. I'll contact you when I have everything setup.

Unless you have mad connections, there is no way you could make that system for 2500. Like MAD connections. Really mad. In fact I think you would have to be the president of Intel to build that kinda system for $2500.
Dual 15000 RPM 160 GB Scsi hard drives would at least cost you $1700.
A 3.06 Ghz P4 is like $500.
That gives you $300 to build the rest. I'm not flaming you I just don't see how in the hell that is possible without some hardcore connections.
I do have connections cuz i build a LOT of computers, but u are still right. I could do it with one SCSI drive, but the dual drives puts me way over my limit. I love building dream comps and i get a little too excited and the math doesnt add up
this looks a bit better.
P4 3.06 - $500
Asus mobo - $150
RAM - $400
DVDRW & DVDROM - $250
Vapochill case $550 1 143gb SCSI Drive - $700
ATI 9700 Pro - $375
= 3g's
Those are without connections. I have a friend who's a network admin and he orders all my parts with his corps discounts. Prolly looking at around $2700 overall for the parts stated above.
