WOW, boy did i get nailed by a virus tonight..... Everything on my system started runnin goofy on my so I ran a virus scan on the mofo. BAM! It found a W32 virus that had wormed its way into 632 different .exe files on my system... Needless to say when i tried to repair them didnt work to tell and everything had to be quartentined. Im VERY careful about my network security. I have a hardware firewall (my router), NAV firewall, and Windows firewall, and I monitor all the ports on my comp/router for activity. But somehow this one got thru. SO at this point nothing was working and i tried a system restore to hopefully free up my OS files so i could have some room to work. System was restored but nothing worked still and it wouldnt let me go back into restore to try an earlier day.. Great so now i gotta reformat. I was going to backup all my files on my other computer on my network but it had managed to destroy my network card drivers so that was outta the question. So i went to burn them to CD's only to find it had also destroyed the drivers to my drives. Yippy! No burner and no network connection! So i was forced to boot from the XP CD and reformat my drive and install a fresh copy of XP Pro. Lost about 8 gigs worth of music, 4 gigs worth of Car vids, documents all that good stuff. Bleh... Getting hit by a virus is like getting your wallet stolen. Keep the money from my wallet just leave all my ID's and crap, its such a hassel to all the stuff back. So ya, Im runnin on a fresh copy right now!!! woohoo!

im not concerned about spyware really. Most spyware is just to gather user statistics, not cause harm. And i monitor all my ports for heavy traffic of spyware, to ensure its not a trojan. Another proggie you might like is EasyCleaner. It gets rid of unecessary files and cleans the registry.
