I personally have always used mouse and keyboard for first person shooters, always liked it like that. I don't have a gaming console, always preferred the PC. But every time I went to play Halo at a friend's house on an xbox, I would get my ass handed to me.. lol.. Now, that would have never happened with a mouse and a keyboard, it's just that I'm not used to a gamepad in a shooter.
There may be an xbox tournament us Ottawa 7thgen'ers are gonna have this winter, and I was thinking of getting a gamepad to practise (figured I could use one for driving games anyways).
What's your take on it? Are shooters meant to be played with a keyboard and a mouse, or do you find gamepads are just as effective??

i'm the same way... i tried to play call of duty 2 with my gamepad (looks like a ps2 controller) and couldn't do shit. mouse + keyboard is way better for me
any fps will be easier to control with a mouse and keyboard. a gamepad is only useful for fighting games imo, but using them cant be help. its a simple way to control a game, but can be very unaccurate.
Yeah, I prefer the mouse and keyboard too since Im also a PC guy. I tried playing with a gamepad but I couldnt react fast enough with it. But if you do get a gamepad, I think you should get a PS2 controler with a USB adapter for the PC, they are so durable, and better then the Logitech pads, I plan to get a PS2 controler when my second Logitech goes out.

I like keyboard/mouse because it's faster and more accurate. Plus, there are many more buttons so there are more shortcuts for commands. I like gamepads because they are more comfortable. My wrists and fingers don't hurt when I'm playing with a gamepad for hours and hours, but after playing on a keyboard/mouse they'll start hurting after an hour or two.
The wired xbox 360 gamepad works good for most games on pc. I tried a few games with it. Even played Call of Duty 2 for pc and xbox 360 with it. Worked like a champ.
