shaving handles

i had an accident past day and my right door was "involved", they are going to fix it (no new door) so if they are going to "paste it" i dont know how is called when they put that weird compound that fills the "holes" so i thought is time to shave the handles for once..

Just i dont know whats needed.. i know there is something called actuators but how do they work and what do i need?
