Projector HID Conversion

I am going to buy a HID kit and right now I have a Halo Projectors and I really can't see for
Sh!t , at night and I am debating on whether to go back to my stock cleared headlkights with a H4 HID setup or If the H1 Halo Projector would be good too. Because I really like my Projectors and I want to keep them, but At night visibilty is bad. If anyone has done a HID conversion on Halo projectors please let me know, how it came out thanks

I would probably go with the stock housing. The projectors won't be that great unless you retrofit a HID projector. There are many people on the site with H4 HID and most of them are satisfied with the beam pattern.

No nO NO!!!!!! He is talking about projectors that were MADE for HID. the TYC's are not made for HID....What he's saying is, keep your projectors, then buy some OEM projectors off a BMW or Audi, or something. Then cut your projectors out, (just the headligh portion), then fit the OEM ones in there. Very time consuming and difficult if you don't know what you're doing.

Types?

So what projector lenses fit into the Halo projectors?? Because this would be an interesting thing to do if it were possible. And, does anyone have a semi DIY on how to retrofit the lenses.

PS Stock headlights are as ugly as a hairy ballsack, that is why so many people get TYCs and Halos.

You could pretty much fit any med- small sized projectors in your Halo's/ tyc's. They are about 77MM and the housing has alot of space to play with. The Audi A6 are 80MM. I won't post a DIY until im done. I still have to drive up north for the ECE units and take out my TYC's and put my stocks back on. PDXbiker and Unleaded have also done this retrofit using each of their own techniques so the DIY is gonna vary according to your own ingenuity.

Ok, only one last question, where or how would you procure such lenses like the Audi A6 or A8 lenses (and would you then have to get an HID kit or could you leave the h1 bulbs you have in for a while and wait until you have the money?)

Thanks and keep us posted

OEM hid projectors are all over ebay. Im getting it from a reseller who has connections from Hella in the U.K. so my method of obtaining these units are a little more selective. I wouldn't suggest doing this project if you only have one set of headlights and are limited w/ time. Im putting my stock cleared lights on while im working on my tyc's and ripping it apart to get rid of the TYC Projector units in the housing. I don't believe in HID Kits, i think they are the biggest rippoffs for bright lights. If you want effective perfect beam pattern OEM is the only way to go. Your halogen optics can never be as good as OEM Hid no matter which kit you buy. Also you can get a complete retrofit kit (projectors, ballast, bulbs, harness, relay) for the price of an aftermarket HID kit.

does the acura EL in canada have HID? cuz it seems like it. cuz of the acura name and the EL being a fancy "civic". if it does that would be the best bet

The Acura EL doesn't come with HID. Just different looking headlights though.

I have an HID kit coming probably on Monday, so when it gets here I'll post a DIY for installing them in the TYC projectors. I would assume the process is the same, or similar, for installing them in the Halo's ..

Anyone interested, there's a GB on HID kits right now. $365 shipped .. it's in the marketplace

I dunno if anyone's still interested, but I got the kit installed, I took some pics, and I think it looks fúckin sweet. The kit I got is soooo blue, and I drove by like 5 cops and none of them did anything about it. I have some other pics to take, like of my dash & stuff, and I'll post a DIY for anyone who's interested ...

I have an HID kit in stock TYC's. I have had it for quite some time now with no problems. They are bright as hell and the cut off is perfect. You don't NEED to retrofit Audi or BMW projectors into TYC's if you don't feel like ripping them apart. The light out put is perfectly fine. At least 3 times brighter then stock. I'm actually thinking about doing the retrofit though. Just because everyone is saying that it is so much better.
