Dash light info everywhere... What about LCD display?

I've just been looking around a bit at changing the colors of the lights (interior) but I don't see anything about changing the color LCD odometer display. Anyone here know how to do that?

I thought i read once that all you have to do is replace the gel plate in front of it

I know that's true for the gauges. Is it really the same for the odometer LCD display? It's like the orange comes from beneath it and doesn't look orange in the daytime. I doubt the LCD uses a gel too but I may be wrong. I've never taken out the whole assembly. It's like those Indiglo watches.

Anyway, anyone know if the odometer is swappable from the '03 to the '01/02? I know the whole gauge assembly has different connectors but the LCD may be a tad different.

Well, isn't this something... I may have found the solution on someone's Ford Focus site...
Hope this link helps someone willing to try this before I do. I want to know the results.

The LCD background color link
